Uzbek traditional music group encompasses the emotions, able to soothe and to stir, through the power of the human voice and musical instruments, irrespective of whether the language is understood or not. OXUS are arguably the finest contemporary exponents of the art. Their repertoire draws on songs from all the culturally diverse regions of Uzbekistan, Bukharian Shashmaqom, Ferghana-Tashkent maqoms, Khorezm maqoms, and a wide national and folk instrumental music and songs. OXUS was founded in 2002 with the name “Mashriq”. In 2013 the group’s name was changed into OXUS (one of the ancient names of Amu River in Central Asia).The group consists of for professional musicians who have wide music heritage Program of Uzbekistan. Sufficient experience of cooperating with Eastern and Western musicians in contemporary music style has been gained by the group members through various festivals and concerts around the globe. Group’s audios was included to the album under the name “Samarkand & Beyond” came out in cooperation with ARC music production in 2007.
